For the first year of Scenesville's life, we were lucky enough to be able to use Notre Dame Hall in Leicester Square, one of the best venues most of us had ever seen, as our home. With its magnificent dancefloor, amazing retro-fururist decor and sheer otherworldliness, Notre Dame was the perfect backdrop to some memorable nights dancing and listening to the kind of 60s Soul music we love. So what a tragedy it was when we were told that the building was to be converted into a theatre and would no longer be able to host dances! Luckily, the Notre Dame management, who had always been the greatest help to us, referred us to a venue across town which they thought would fit our requirements. One look at Carisbrooke Hall told us why they had sent us there. Built to the same plan as Notre Dame and decorated in the same 50s Modernist style, Carisbrooke Hall was like Notre Dame Mk II, an underground oval ballroom with sprung maplewood dancefloor and the same stripwood panelling around the walls. It was as if somebody had picked up Notre Dame, carried it across town, shrunk it down a bit (not the worst thing in the world), added a balcony (oh wow!) and given it a different name! Unfortunately, the finishing times we needed for our dances didn't suit the venue's needs, but now, some three years later, the time is right for the green light, and the dream is a reality - Scenesville is coming to Carisbrooke Hall for one amazing night of Rare 60s and Northern Soul! For many, losing Notre Dame was a blow that was hard to come to terms with - people asked in their hordes when it would be possible for us to go back there. They still ask now and the answer is the same as it was then - never. Notre Dame is a theatre now and it plans to remain that way for good. Notre Dame was a much loved venue - which made it a daunting act to follow, but in Carisbrooke Hall we feel we've found the venue that can do it. With its fantastic dancefloor, evocative decor and sheer style, Carisbrooke Hall is the perfect setting for a full-on Northern and Rare 60s Soul rave-up - Scenesville style!
 
Carisbrooke Hall is easily accessible by road, rail,tube and bus, and there is good street parking very close to the venue, which makes it a particularly easy venue to reach when you're coming from out of town.
